YOUTH
""RETREAT 2023-TEJAS""
The Vine Ministry serves youth in grades 7th -12th. Our ministry verse is John 15:5 which states:
I am the Vine, you are the Branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
We focus on telling youth about Jesus Christ and discipling them so they can grow in their relationship with God and produce fruit. We have three main event types: discipleship, service (give back), and fellowship.
Discipleship
Service (Give Back)

THE BOOK OF REVELATION
In today's world it seems there is more evil than good and that the bad guys are winning. Revelation was directed to seven churches in the Roman province of Asia who were facing persecution for their belief in Christ and were tempted to revert to their former way of living. The message - God is good and will win over evil. Today, we can use that same hope and assured victory in Christ to persevere and live committed to God's kingdom no matter how bad things look now.
Are you lonely? Joshua 1:9 encourages us to “Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” In this study, students will discover that loneliness is a common human condition, how God provides for us in our loneliness, and how to reach out to others who may also be feeling lonely. Students will dig into the fact that we are never truly alone, even in our most isolated times. Thankfully, loneliness is not what God wants for us. He has provided help and resources during the lonely seasons of life for our good and his glory.
In October, nine youth and four adults traveled to Camp Tejas south of Giddings for our annual Fall Retreat. The theme of the retreat was BRAVE. We learned how God strengthens us to have courage in the face of fear. When we choose bravery, we humbly admit our need for Christ, confess our sin, boldly obey Jesus even when it seems risky, and tell others how Jesus offers salvation to everyone. There will be times when we’ll want to give in to fear. But Jesus calls us to be brave! Bible study sessions included:
• Do you have what it takes? The goal of this session was to help students understand the Good News that Jesus lived a perfect life, bore our sins and God’s wrath on the cross, died, and then rose again so those who put their faith in him can be right with God forever. Passages: Ephesians 2:1,4-5; Romans 10:9-10; Romans 1:16a
• Be honest. The goal of this session is to help students understand the value of bravely confessing our sin to the Lord and to other trusted believers. Passages: 1 John 1:8–10; James 5:16; Proverbs 28:13–14
• Be all-in. The goal of this session is to help students see how God equips Christ-followers to bravely obey him even in a world that is against God and those who follow him. Passages: Galatians 1:10; Luke 10:27; James 1:25
• Be fearless. The goal of this session is to help students understand see God’s heart in expanding his Kingdom and that we have a part to bravely play in being a light to the nations. Passages: 1 Corinthians 15:58; Philippians 4:13; Isaiah 41:10
In June, twelve youth and two adults traveled to Highland Lakes west of Austin to attend DWELL Camp (Colossians 3:16). The theme of the camp was Sola Scriptura. The camp included breakout sessions, bible study, evening worship and sermon, recreation, and lots of fun at the lake and pool. Most importantly, God met each student and adult at camp and changed our lives individually and as a group.
